Today, IonQ’s acquisition of Elisity has closed. A few commitments first, because they matter much more than the headline.

For our customers: we’ll keep showing up for you. Same team, same product, same roadmap you helped shape. We’ll continue serving you under the same leadership, with the support you count on today.
To the Elisity team: we’re not slowing down. We’ll keep investing in the strategic roadmap and we’ll keep shipping. Then we get to extend it.
Our goal is to fast-track customers’ post-quantum cryptography (PQC) initiatives by extending the Elisity platform they already use. Across healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, utilities, and financial services, customers have invested in understanding their assets, defining required access, and putting policies to work. Bringing cryptographic risk into that same context can help them prioritize migration around what their business actually depends on.
That’s the strategic fit I see with IonQ. We bring the asset context and access policies customers use today; IonQ brings expertise in PQC that can help us extend that foundation.
In the announcement, Niccolo de Masi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IonQ, said:
“Enterprise and government organizations will now be able to draw on one security architecture to contain attacks operating at machine speed today and protect sensitive information against future quantum threats. I’m glad to welcome James Winebrenner and the Elisity team to IonQ.”
For our team, the work ahead is to turn that strategy into capabilities customers can use while keeping their essential operations running. Hospitals need clinical systems that help caregivers deliver safe, timely care to patients. Pharmaceutical companies need to keep producing and delivering lifesaving medicines. For manufacturers, uptime drives the business, and downtime costs money.
Elisity IdentityGraph™ already brings asset identity and communications into the access decisions our platform supports. Teams can simulate policy before applying approved controls through supported existing network infrastructure. That gives us a foundation for connecting cryptographic findings to the assets, services, and communications customers already understand.
Our first planned step is cryptographic inventory and posture intelligence within the Elisity platform, targeted for the first half of 2027. We intend to help teams understand cryptographic exposure, assess migration readiness, and prioritize action using the same asset context they use for access decisions. Scope, coverage, and availability may change as we develop these capabilities.
We intend to reduce the work of reconciling disconnected inventories and make cryptographic risk easier to connect to operational priorities. Customers could build on what they know about their environments to prioritize PQC migration and protect assets that can’t be upgraded. That is how we intend to help accelerate their PQC initiatives.
Some critical systems can’t be upgraded to PQC and must be secured through other means. Least-privilege access policies and Zero Trust practices help restrict unnecessary access and limit lateral movement around those systems. Those controls do not replace cryptographic migration or make vulnerable encryption quantum-resistant. IonQ’s quantum-security expertise and Elisity’s asset context and access policy give us the opportunity to help customers coordinate both efforts.
To our customers who made an early bet on Elisity: you helped shape this company from the beginning. You brought us the problems that mattered to your operations and worked with our team to solve them. Your feedback has driven our innovation, and it will keep shaping what we build next.
At St. Luke’s University Health Network, David Finkelstein and his team prepared the infrastructure and then completed their segmentation rollout in 46 days, our fastest enterprise rollout at the time. That experience reinforces the value of security customers can put to work around their operations.
Our design partners and investors backed this team when Elisity was far from a sure thing. Their support helped us turn customer needs into the platform we have today.
And most importantly, to the Elisity team: you’ve kept delivering while I kept asking for more. You’ve built something that goes far beyond a transaction headline. This milestone is yours.
I’m excited about what comes next, and grateful we get to continue building with this team and the customers who helped us get here. Together, we’ll continue to build security for what’s next.
